Discovering the scent through colours

Discovering the scent through colours

Background inspiration (Catherine, founder)

Jogging through the boreal forest always triggers a certain sentiment in me - a sense of calm and vitality at once. The forest is one of my main happy places, its scent somehow manages to foster my creativity and mindfulness. For me, kotte 248 is the epitome of freedom sensed in these luscious green woods.

Being invigorated my this scent, the idea of visualizing it came to me. I reached out to Cecilie, a young artist who lives close to my family's Swedish stuga (vacation home). Luckily she was onboard and crafted this beautiful artwork with plant ink. Plants don't just carry a powerful scent or therapeutical benefits, they also transform into magnificent colour palettes!

Cecilie's thoughts on creating an artwork for råvi organics

I was commissioned to create inks using rosemary, pine, and eucalyptus—the same ingredients råvi uses in their diffuser scents. These plants aren’t just ingredients—they carry a feeling. They immediately take you to a forest, where the air is fresh, and everything feels calm. The idea was to reflect the feeling of being in a forest, with the scents and colours working together to create a full sensory experience.

Making the inks was such a calming process. Rosemary gave this lovely earthy green when mixed with bicarbonate soda, pine had a deeper, richer tone, and eucalyptus added this fresh brightness. It took some time, simmering the plants and letting them steep, but it was worth it to pull out those natural colours. The whole thing was about being slow and patient, just like being in the woods.

When it came to creating the artwork, I really wanted it to feel like the forest. Not just in the colours, but in the texture and movement. I thought about the way sunlight filters through the trees, the shadows, and that soft rustling sound of leaves. It wasn’t just about making something that looked good—it was about capturing that peaceful, grounded feeling you get when you’re surrounded by nature. This whole project has been a beautiful mix of sight and scent, and a reminder of how special it is to slow down and connect with the world around us.
